Cleaning metadata from FLUX-generated images
FLUX has no metadata convention of its own. What gets written depends on the front end: through ComfyUI you get the full workflow, through a hand-rolled API you may get nothing at all.

Want to look first? Themetadata inspectorlists every field in the file, so you can see exactly what is there before deciding what to strip.
Depends on the front end: ComfyUI writes the workflow, a custom API is unpredictable
Different export paths can write different things. The reliable approach is to inspect one sample before batch processing.
Where it writes
| Location | Notes |
|---|---|
| ComfyUI path | Full workflow in PNG iTXt, including the FLUX model name |
| Custom API | Usually no metadata, unless the implementer writes it |
| C2PA | Generally not written |
Pre-upload checklist
- 11. Inspect first to see whether there is anything at all
- 22. If there is, clean it as PNG text chunks
- 33. For batches, watch out for output mixed across front ends
- 44. Upload that copy, with no editor or forwarding in between
Common traps
- Assuming “there is no metadata here” and skipping the check
- Batch-processing output from several different front ends together
If it is still flagged after cleaning
That means the trigger was never in the file metadata. It could be an invisible pixel-level watermark, the platform's own visual classifier, or history held on the platform side. None of those live in the metadata layer, and cleaning again will not change them.
The full boundaries are in thedisclaimer; if you just want to confirm the file really is clean, use thewatermark check.
Common questions
Does FLUX write C2PA?
Currently, generally not.
Why does my FLUX image have no metadata?
If it came through a custom API that writes nothing, it is already clean.
How do I clean ComfyUI output?
Use the PNG cleaner; the text chunk is removed whole.
