Clear ComfyUI workflow metadata
ComfyUI is the most candid tool of the lot: it stores the entire node graph — models, samplers, every parameter — as JSON inside the PNG, occasionally over a hundred KB.

The complete workflow JSON inside a PNG iTXt chunk
Different export paths can write different things. The reliable approach is to inspect one sample before batch processing.
Where it writes
| Location | Notes |
|---|---|
| iTXt: workflow | The full node graph, with model names and every parameter |
| iTXt: prompt | A readable summary of the prompt and settings |
| Size | Tens to hundreds of KB is common |
Pre-upload checklist
- 11. Clean the PNG text chunks — on by default
- 22. Note that the workflow may contain local file paths
- 33. Upload that copy, with no editor or forwarding in between
Common traps
- Assuming it is only the prompt, when the whole workflow is in there
- The workflow holds local paths and model names, so the exposure is wider
If it is still flagged after cleaning
That means the trigger was never in the file metadata. It could be an invisible pixel-level watermark, the platform's own visual classifier, or history held on the platform side. None of those live in the metadata layer, and cleaning again will not change them.
The full boundaries are in thedisclaimer; if you just want to confirm the file really is clean, use thewatermark check.
Common questions
Is the workflow really stored in full?
Yes. Open the PNG in a text editor and the complete JSON is there.
Does it contain anything sensitive?
It can: local file paths, model names, custom node names.
Does the file get much smaller?
Yes. Removing a hundred-KB workflow is a visible change.
