Remove AI markers, keep camera details
A common requirement for photographers: the file must carry no AI traces, but the client still wants to see body, lens and exposure. This mode rewrites the EXIF block and drops only the descriptive fields.
Keeps make, model, lens/Drops software, artist, comments/C2PA and XMP fully cleared/No upload

Cleaning options
This mode keeps: make, model, lens, orientation, resolution, exposure time, aperture, ISO, capture time.
This mode removes: software name, artist, copyright, image description, user comment, body serial number, owner, and the GPS block.
This mode removes: software name, artist, copyright, image description, user comment, body serial number, owner, and the GPS block.
Why not just delete everything
A full clean removes the entire EXIF block — the client receives the photo and the body and lens information is gone with it, which is hard to justify on a delivery.
Precise mode rebuilds the EXIF block instead: only the geometry and exposure tags are written back, and no descriptive tag is written at all. The result keeps usable shooting parameters while no longer revealing which software you used or whose name the device is registered under.

When to use it
- Wedding and event delivery: clients want the parameters, not a description of your editing pipeline.
- Commercial product shots: one Generative Fill pass to change a background should not get the listing flagged as AI.
- Portfolio uploads: keep lens and body details so peers can compare settings.
- Sample shots for selling a used body: proves it came from that camera without leaking the serial number.
Common questions
Does this mode still remove GPS?
Yes. GPS is location privacy, so the whole GPS sub-block is dropped even when you choose to keep EXIF. If you genuinely need the coordinates — a geotagged delivery, say — use the full mode and turn off everything except the EXIF option, accepting that the privacy risk outside C2PA remains.
Could a rebuilt EXIF be detected as forged?
No. What gets written is a standard EXIF 2.3 structure, byte-level valid. Note though that it is not the original shooting record — do not present it as original evidence.
Why is there no “inject camera EXIF” option here?
The point of this mode is to preserve real information, not to add any. To add camera details, use the full mode on the home page.
Does it work on PNG?
Yes. The PNG eXIf chunk is kept while text chunks and caBX are cleared. PNG's eXIf rewrite logic differs from JPEG's, so the block is preserved as-is and only the text and C2PA are removed.
How is this different from “remove C2PA only”?
That one touches neither EXIF nor XMP. This mode additionally clears XMP, IPTC and PNG text chunks, and rewrites EXIF. Use it when you want the most thorough removal of AI traces.
